Bird enthusiasts have long loved Shetland, and its abundant archaeological landscape goes unnoticed. Because of the exceptional preservation of these sites and their landscapes, there are dozens of things to explore here, from ancient field boundaries to Iron Age villages and from Viking long houses to historic relics.
The group also visits the internationally important sites at Mousa, Scatness and Jarlshof, taking the ferry to Unst, the most northerly point in the United Kingdom and said to be the Vikings’ first landing place.
