Things are finally returning to normal after 18 months of confinement and stringent Covid restrictions.

Things are finally returning to normal after 18 months of confinement and stringent Covid restrictions.

The Christmas Markets in Glasgow were cancelled last year owing to the epidemic, but there are no hints that they may be forced to stop this year.

We can’t blame travellers for wanting to stay, whether they’re looking for handcrafted presents to send home to friends and family or simply want to enjoy freshly prepared hot cuisine.

With vendors from 32 nations from across the world, it’s safe to say this is an event you won’t want to miss.

Is there a chance that the Glasgow Christmas Markets in 2021 may be cancelled?

There are currently no indications that it may be cancelled. It will, however, be the city’s first-holiday market since 2019. This is because Glasgow Christmas Market declared on Facebook in November 2020 that the 2020 holiday event will be cancelled due to Covid.

The statement read: “Together with Glasgow City Council, we have mutually agreed that in light of the current lockdown restrictions and continuing Covid restrictions the Glasgow Christmas Markets 2020 will not take place. The decision has been taken after much discussion and careful consideration of the ongoing restrictions required to stem the spread of the Coronavirus. Public safety has to be at the forefront of our decisions at this very difficult time.”

Both festive yearly markets will feature a variety of seasonal chalets with local crispy duck rotisserie, bratwurst sausage, crepes, hog roast, and much more, with over 100 exhibitors from across the world (as well as some from home).

Oh, and don’t forget about the real German pubs offering traditional beers and the beautiful 15-meter Christmas tree in the city centre!
