Visit Saint Magnus Cathedral
St Magnus Cathedral is a highlight of international renown, built from red and yellow sandstone. It took about 300 years to construct this magnificent cathedral, with construction starting in 1137. The earldom belonged to Magnus Erlendsson, Earl of Orkney, who shared it with his cousin, Haakon Paulsson, but a storm of jealousy and greed ultimately led to Magnus’ death.
