Visit Crathes Castle
This classic Scottish tower house stands against a backdrop of rolling hills, surrounded by glorious gardens – and is a great place to visit with the whole family. Over 350 years ago, Robert the Bruce granted nearby land to the Burnett family, who lived in the castle for over 350 years. It was built on an intricate maze of towers, turrets, panels of oak, and painted ceilings by Alexander Burnett in the 16th century. Many of these elements still survive today.
From family portraits to exquisite antique furniture, you’ll find a labyrinth of cultural history inside. The walled garden contains eight sections and eight different types of greenery including an enchanting sculptured topiary, soft herbaceous colours, and modern exotic blooms.
