Explore Clickimin Broch
This broch is an outstanding example of the type of stone-built roundhouse that is unique to Scotland, found at the edge of Clickimin Loch and that was used as a settlement for over 1000 years.
There is an interesting sculpture on the causeway of a pair of feet, a rare piece dating to the late Iron Age or early historic period, and perhaps representative of kingship and inauguration rites.
There are still many questions surrounding its purpose of why it was originally built. Some speculate it was a stronghold, while others believe it to be a signifier of the builder’s social status. Furthermore, its builder also remains unknown.
